Beaches, food and prices in a region not everyone has discovered yet.
Why Calabria, not the familiar Italy
While Tuscany and the Amalfi coast are packed, Calabria offers the same Mediterranean magic at far calmer prices. Long sandy beaches, mountain villages, olive groves and food cooked to old recipes — without the tourist-restaurant markups.
What awaits you
- Villaggio resorts — Animation, sports activities and kids' clubs in a calm atmosphere.
- Local cuisine — Fresh fish, pecorino cheese, 'nduja and pasta you won't eat anywhere else.
- History and nature — At Calabria's foot are ancient villages, national parks and crystal-clear coves.
When is the best time to go
June and September are ideal: the sea is warm and the beaches aren't full yet. In July and August temperatures can top 32 °C and the villaggio resorts fill with Italian families — pleasant but lively. In September prices drop and the evenings are perfect for strolls along the coast.
