Alta Valtellina (1 225 - 3 012 m)

The Alta Valtellina ski region is made up of several ski areas. The area is full of places that enjoy international renown. “Livingo,” “Bormio,” “Santa Caterina Valfurva,” “Madesimo,” “Chiesa Valmalenco,” “Aprica,” and “Valgerola”— are just a few of the many names associated with endless runs along 400 km of perfectly groomed ski trails. Snowboard enthusiasts will find numerous specially equipped areas and snow parks with trails stretching over 200 km. The slopes feature numerous rest areas and dining options, along with 50 equipment rental centers and 29 ski schools. All this is offered by Alta Valtellina. In Alta Valtellina, you can ski year-round on the magnificent slopes of the Stelvio, which has always been known as the “University of Skiing.” Many renowned ski champions train here from May through November, not to mention alpine skiing enthusiasts who don’t want to give up the snow even in summer. The lifts are worth mentioning in their own right, as investments made in recent years have resulted in a high level of quality and comfort.

Val di Sole – Saules ieleja (1 520–2 505 m)

The Val di Sole region has long been a favorite among Latvian skiers, thanks to its sunny slopes, enchanting mountain scenery, and high-quality, reasonably priced services.

Val di Sole, which translates to “Valley of the Sun,” is located between Lake Garda and South Tyrol, at the foot of the picturesque Brenta Dolomites (3,173 m). The climate in the Valley of the Sun is unique—moist air masses from Lake Garda bring plenty of precipitation, yet the sun almost always shines here! Temperature inversions are common in the mountains—the higher you go, the warmer it gets. The lift system connects the Folgarida-Marilleva ski area (highest point—Monte Vigo, 2,180 m) with one of Italy’s most prestigious resorts, Madonna di Campiglio (highest point—Passo Groste, 2,504 m)—offering a total of more than 120 km of superbly groomed runs and 45 modern lifts. Thanks to the large number of blue and red runs with gentle gradients, as well as the many mountain restaurants with sunny terraces, this region seems particularly well-suited for those who love to ski in comfort. At the same time, expert skiers will undoubtedly enjoy the long black run No. 1 in Folgarida. They’ll also enjoy testing their skills on the FIS slalom course in Madonna di Campiglio or getting an adrenaline rush on the Michael Schumacher course.
